The front pocket zipper uses YKK Aquaguard for water protection, so it can be an excellent place to stow tech items you don’t want to get wet. As with most YKK zips as big as the #10, they can get sticky, especially when going around corners. Beefy YKK #10 reverse coil zippers keep all your stuff protected. So no worries if you’re used to chucking your bag in the backseat of your car or tossing it on rough gym floors. It’s built to last through all the abuse you can throw it. The primary material of the black Aer Gym Duffel 3 is a thick 1680D Cordura ballistic nylon. The gray version also uses different materials, so we won’t be focusing on that one in this review. At the time of this review, it’s available in either gray or black, but we chose black because that’s how we roll at Pack Hacker. Sleek is a word we use a lot, but if you looked it up in the dictionary, there’d be a picture of the Aer Gym Duffel 3. Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty, starting with the materials. Whether you’re hyped up on energy drinks to get your swole on or just make it through the day, this bag has something for you. And the quick grab pocket being on the back of the bag isn’t as convenient as we’d like. Although the sheer number of pockets can make it easy to forget where you’ve packed something. With a ton of segmented compartments, there’s ample room to keep your exercise gear and tech separate. Aer Gym Duffel 3 | Ready for the gym but also a nap. Even if you haven’t exercised in months, it’s a good choice for a quick weekend trip on a Friday after work. It’s the type of bag that says “this wearer means business” when you show up to the yoga studio with it over your shoulder. So not only would this work well as an everyday laptop bag, it will also work well when you are traveling although you will have to remove any laptops as the bag is not checkpoint friendly. The Aer Gym Duffel 3 has your back from work to the gym to a help-me-lose-my-quarantine-weight support group. Also, even though the bag is well made, it’s not heavy with it only weighing a couple pounds. It is comfortable to wear when loaded down, and I appreciate the sternum strap as it helps keep the bag on your back. I like that you can hold it multiple ways with the handles on almost every side of it in addition to the backpack straps. With that said, this bag will fit even the largest iPad Pro and other mobile tech as well, so if you don’t have a laptop but you take your iPad with you on a daily basis, this would be the perfect go-to work bag for you. I’ll stick with my Swissgear Scansmart backpack, which fits even my humongous 17″ personal laptop. So the AER Duffel Pack won’t work for my daily driver. You could go with a 13″ laptop, and that should fit nicely in here, but many systems type people like myself want that extra 2 inches. Most consultants I know would not be able to use this bag, as they are using Windows or Linux machines mostly because that’s what our clients use, and it also promises the most compatibility with our client systems. That’s unfortunate, as it does limit who this bag is for. My Lenovo does fit, but it won’t fit inside the padded compartment. The problem is that this is now thinner than most standard corporate laptops unless you are lucky enough to get your company to foot the bill for the MacBook Pro. It says it’s designed to hold up to a 15″ MacBook Pro. Even if I stepped down a model in my companies lineup, it would be a struggle to fit in this bag. While not everyone has a laptop with a big beefy Core i7 like I have, most everyone does have a laptop that fits the general dimensions of this laptop. This is a laptop with a 15″ screen, and while it is a bit heavy, it’s not too bad to carry in the airport.
